Legacy's Annual Christmas Sing

Today was the annual Christmas Sing at the school. This is a very well-supported event so if you want a seat, you have to get there really early...lucky me. I had about an hour and a half wait, but I was on the front row...totally worth it.
Lady singing "He's got trouble by jimney, he's too fat for the chimney..."

Carter singing "special night, beard that's white...Must be Santa...."

Maddy singing and signing "Silent Night".

The sixth graders looked bored even while they were lining up in their places. Apparently, they all think they're a little too old for the Christmas sing....not to mention...They were all put out because they didn't get to sing "Mr. Gibb got run over by a reindeer"...typical. I enjoyed the morning...right up until I went back to the car to come home. With 3 more inches of snow piled on my car, along with the several that were already on the ground, I had a long, slippery drive home. I actually though to myself "If we get stuck, at least the house is only a mile away. Jace and I could walk....couldn't we?" Oh the joys of winter weather.

scissors: hair's worst enemy

If you read Lindsey's comment in yesterday's post, you will be curious about my hair cutting incident. While I was blogging, Laityn was upstairs cutting out hearts. Apparently, her hair kept falling into her eyes. So she just chopped off the pieces that were causing her a problem. I came upstairs to finish up dinner....while putting away the crayons, I came across some large chunks of hair. Laityn spent some quality time in her room and lost all scissor priviledges for a very long time. Thankfully, the area she trimmed is very well hidden, and no one else will even really notice (thus the reason there are no pictures for this story). Aaaahhh.......life is never, never boring!

......lunchtime conversations.....

Lunchtime seems to be the perfect time for random conversations with my kids, especially my Lady.
"Mom, is there a bad Santa?"
"No, Santa is good!"
"Then who gives presents to the bad guys?"
"I don't think they get presents."
"Why didn't Jesus kill all the bad guys?"
"Cause he lets them choose too. They just made bad choices."
"Hmmmm.....so Satan won't get presents too huh?"
"Nope, no presents for him either."
"Can I sleep in my school clothes in my bed?"
"No."
"But...I would be warm."
"Sorry, just jammies in bed."
Enter Jace...
"I just sleep in underwears...just boys do that!"
...on and on it goes.....

Lady's new hat from grandma was so stinkin' cute, I just had to share it with you all.....Only nine days til Christmas! Yay!!

sing a song

Last night was Kenzie's Chorus Concert. They sang several songs from "Polar Express"--those are some of my favorite Christmas songs. They also sang "the 12 Days After Christmas" which was hilarious (It kind of goes through what went wrong with each of the gifts...the rings turned fingers green, the pear tree is chopped down and burned, French Hens made into chicken soup...anyway..you get the idea). It was a fun night and Kenzie did an awesome job! It's so fun to see her starting to figure out who she is...

things to love...

Many of you know that I recently exposed our computer to that virus that has been all over the news....major bummer! Tim spent most of his weekend trying to fix programs, delete the virus, and install better antivirus stuff. We thought everything was fixed until I tried send some emails---we could no longer attach any photos. That led to my discovery last night--I couldn't upload photos to my blog. After a long day at work, F.H.E., ice cream at Arctic Circle, and putting kids to bed, Tim sat back down to try and fix this machine again. While he was working, I was silently praying that we were going to be able to fix everything without any more cost (Antivirus programs are pricey!). Tim's last stitch effort to try and restore things worked--hooray!!--and now I'm busy catching up on all my computer stuff. So...thing #1 to love is Tim...and those quietly answered prayers...

Thing #2 is just so sweet, I had to mention it. I started wrapping gifts yesterday, so all the kids are asking to wrap gifts for eachother. Lady came and asked me to help her this afternoon. I was in the middle of a school project with Kenzie, so I told Lady we would wrap her gifts tomorrow after school. Imagine my surprise when about 30 minutes later, Lady came up toting a gift bag for every member of the family--she even made tags complete with names. She arranged them under the tree and was oh so proud. Later tonight, I took a quick peek inside those bags. Carter is getting a duster (the one we use to play Cinderella). Kenzie is getting 2 polished rocks (pink and purple of course!). Maddy is getting a purse. Jace is getting her stuffed dolphin, and Tim & I get pictures drawn by miss lady. Needless to say, thing #2 is my sweet Lady Jane!

my baby is four!?!

Blowing out the candles took some serious air this year....and yes, the cake was every bit as good as it looks!
Trey took control of the scooter fairly quickly...and kept control the remainder of the night!

Today is Jace's 4th birthday....where did the time go? He still hasn't completely come out of the terrible two's, but he is much improved. I'm considering putting crayons back within his reach... he hasn't colored on anything not colorable for a while. It's kind of strange to really be moving into the phase of no more babies, but there are some big advantages....no more bulky double strollers, no more diapers, no more worrying about little people falling down the stairs (although my big kids still do on occasion).... Jace is still a troublemaker- he probably always will be-but we sure do love the little man!

christmastime dreaming

I was playing around with my new camera last night while I was watching Lindsey's kids. First, Tyler is about the cutest thing ever! And second, these other pictures just made me feel like settling in with a cup of hot chocolate and watching the twinkle lights...Merry Christmas!
