...in a nutshell...

So ya... I haven't blogged since May....
I could give all kinds of excuses,
but I will spare you the time
and spare myself all that extra typing.
Summer was a whirlwind!!
It was over before it began.
I spent all of June prepping for girls camp...
which I absolutely loved!
Tim spent the next two weeks after that
prepping for scout camp...
which he loved equally as much!
We had a wonderfully, crazy, busy summer
full of family, friends, sun, and love!
So...to get myself back on track...
here is a few highlights from the past 4 months!

Last day of school...foam sword fighting
and garage door movies...
We took a quick trip to Park City the second week of June
swimming, shopping, and playing
best kind of mini vacation!

 ...alpine slides...

...the kiddos were in heaven on these
trampoline harness things...

...spent a day at Thanksgiving Point
with grandma, papa, and all the cousins...

...during the school year, Kenzie was in a contest
in her first aid/biology class...
the students who scored the highest on a written test
and a hands on patient assessment test
won a helicopter ride...
Kenzie won and got to bring along one of her
best friends...Justin...and it was a really awesome day!

They rode in a search and rescue helicopter all over the valley.

...no summer would be complete without going to the
annual Steel Days parade and watching Damon
chase down the candy for his kids!

on August 1st, Carter turned 12!!
He was so excited to be ordained a deacon...
he could not be happier passing the sacrament
and gathering fast offerings each month.
There are 25 deacons in the ward...
and he is the very smallest...
thank goodness his best bud will
join him soon...
he is smaller than Carter! haha!

 PAYSON LAKES
need I say more?

Tim planned an obstacle course competition
for all the young'uns...
It was just the right thing for them
and they loved it!

...bubble wands all around...

...don't ask...

SCONE EATING CONTEST!!
The big kids all prepped for the contest of all contests....
they look so happy...
and so not sick...
too bad that didn't last...

6 scones down...
Brit won the whole thing with 10 scones!
Kenzie and Morgan died out at 9...
fyi: later that evening...
Maddy threw up...
even later (like 4 a.m. in the morning)
Jace threw up...
He wasn't even part of the contest
GRRRRR!
earlier in the evening...
the younger cousins got bored watching...
so Jace though covering himself in
glowstick gunk would be very entertaining...
he was right!!

...fishing with grandpa...

Thee best part of this picture is a toss up...
Tim's face
OR
the girls dying of laughter in the background!!

Little Nash getting photobombed by Lady

Tim had the boys do a pioneering merit badge.
They built a monkey bridge...
took forever!!
but became the favorite camp activity
of all time!!

 FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
WHAT!?!?!

just so ya know...
this boy here...
the new next door neighbor
and the best thing Kenzie thinks
she has ever known!

Soccer Days for Jace
He scored in almost every game...
I may actually have a child
with athletic abilities!

Miss Maddy looked so stinkin' cute...
I had to take a picture!

You may not know...
but Kenzie is becoming quite the singer.
She and her friend were picked to sing the
National Anthem at last weeks
rivalry football game...
AF vs. Lone Peak
...you can see the nerves in this one...

...here they are singing on the field...acapella...

and the lovely smiles that say
"We did it!"

And now...you are officially caught up on life in this house.
Please start checking in with me again,
as I have every intention of being a master blogger
once again!

the race is on....

you all know which race I'm talking about...
that race to the end of the school year...
We've had two economic fairs,
one talent show,
tryouts for musical theater...
which Maddy happily made!
tryouts for acapella choir...
which Kenzie made!
Carter's final chorus concert...
Kenzie's benefit concert...
read-a-thons...
class parties...
freshman dances...
and still to come:
field day...
freshman Lagoon day...
yearbook day...
last day of school craziness...
like I said,
the race is on!

seriously...
could he look LESS interested?
and yet,
he wants to be in chorus again!

the benefit concert was beautiful...
they raised $4700 dollars in one evening...
the money was donated to the Pack family
who lost their 18 month old in car accident at Christmastime
and a little girl who was kicked in the head by a horse in December.
such sad stories...

Jace lost a fight with the bike rack this morning at school...
I had him back home with ice by 8:05 a.m.

another random picture...
just had to document Tim's garden boxes....
they.are.awesome.

cooper

...this is cooper...
7 weeks old
lab/australian shepherd mix
and now residing in my garage
HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?
If you know ANYTHING about me,
then you know I am not a lover of animals...
but after nearly 18 years of being
married to an animal lover,
and having 5 children who are in love with dogs,
I CAVED!
...and truth be told...
I'm kind of in love with this little guy.

...and this little bit of sweetness is all ready
for her first mother/daughter tea party...

We curled every single strand of hair...
and Lady could not have been happier.
We attended a "fancy" tea party at the church
complete with tiny triangle pb & js.
We decorated hats with flowers, feathers,
and all sorts of girly stuff...
Laityn was in little girl heaven.

the break

we didn't have big plans for spring break this year...
but at the last minute, we decided to
take a quick trip to Moab...
very.good.decision.
The weather was beautiful...
right around 80 both days
Our first stop was little wildhorse canyon
It was the perfect hike for our family...
we took our time and let the kids climb
up, down, and over all the rocks
and they were all completely content.

 after the hiking was done,
we headed over to the valley of the goblins...
how have I never been there?
it's a kiddos dream!
 climbing...
 planking...
 peeking...
posing....
we made it to Moab around 5pm
and headed to Pasta Jay's for dinner...YUM!
We stayed up late watching a movie
and just loving that we didn't have to be up too early.
In the morning, we drove the potash scenic byway
where we hiked up to some dinosaur footprints
and saw petroglyphs...very cool.
The rest of the day we spent in Arches.
We hadn't been there since Maddy was a baby,
so the kids were pretty impressed with everything.

The last hike we did was to delicate arch...
it almost killed the little ones off...
but once we rounded that last corner
it was totally worth the hour and a half of whine time!
beautiful!!

It was a great little break from good ol' AF
and now we're ready to push through
the rest of the school year
and all the craziness that comes with it!
