lines from our Laityn

If you know our Ladybug at all, you will be well aware of the fact that she absolutely says what is on her mind...regardless of how it may sound. Here are a few of her most recent lines:

"Mom, what color hair does grandma have?"
"Mostly brown."
"Huh....I just think it's gray...just gray."
Sorry grandma!

"Daddy, your tummy is the shape of round.
Will my tummy be like that when I'm all growed up?"

"A boy in my class said he liked my twinkle toes! I think that boy likes me!"

"Everyone who is my friend is my bestest friend."

"Mom, is the reason we don't have cats because they throw up on everything?"
"One of many reasons...."
"If there was cats that didn't throwed up, could we have one? 'Cause I really love cats!"

"I was going to sit down in my first grade, but somebody moved my chair...so I fell on the ground. Right here (points to bum). I only cried a little...and now."

Really, how can you not love her?

kick it!

Soccer...one more sign that fall is nearly here....which is not really a good thing, at least not yet. Carter is my only one in soccer this year, which has been a nice change. We had 2 or 3 kids playing for the last 5 years, so to only have to get to one game and one practice has been much less crazy. I planned on having Jace start, but he informed me "I is too little for playin' soccer. Only 5 1/2 year olds can play soccer!" I tried to convince him to change his mind, but there is no changing Jace's mind. Carter has a good team this year. Six boys on the team are from our ward..always nice to know the people you are cheering for. Carter scored once in the first game, and he works hard when he's on the field. I'm just happy he's not skipping on the field anymore or climbing on the goal posts!

Only three games to go...which means when soccer ends it will officially be fall. I'm so not there yet, hopefully I'll be ready for fall leaves and pumpkins sooner than later!

makin' a run for student council

Here we go.....just spent the last 4 hours helping Kenzie make a poster to gain support for student council. They only take 3 seventh graders, so she is pretty nervous about the whole thing, but she really wants to do it. The poster is based on the visa commercials...you know the ones that list off monetary amounts and end with "priceless". With the poster done, now we are working on a speech/skit that she has to present to the 8th & 9th grade student council members and the advisors. I was never brave enough to run for this stuff, so I'm proud of Kenzie for getting over her fears and going for it!

These girls got together tonight...completely unaware they were dressed exactly alike. Of course, BYU attire is perfect in nearly every type of get together!

the 4 hour poster

You really need to double click on the picture to see all the details, but it turned out awesome! Now for the speech...hopefully we are faster with this part. Wish Kenzie luck!

learning all the big stuff

Yesterday was Jace's first official day of "mom preschool". We started out with a little assessment to see how much he already knew....capital letters, numbers to 20, and shapes--done! Apparently, all the work I've had to do with Laityn has been helping him too. He's got the name writing thing figured out, along with our phone #. I'm thinking preschool is going to be a cakewalk. The only problem will be that he asks everyday if it's a preschool day, and then gets all put out when I tell him it's only Tuesday and Thursday.

Yea mom, I already knowed my letters!

He insisted on putting them back in the right order...kinda like his mom that way.

Practicing some letter "A"s.

Jace is very particular about the "J" in his name....he "only likes the kind of J with the line on top". It's going to a fun year helping him get all geared up for kindergarten. This will be the most attention he's had to himself for a very long time! It will good for both of us!

he is like this big!

I took Jace to lunch yesterday...finally getting some one-on-one with mom. While we were eating, Jace (using his outside voice) "Mom! Do ya see that guy? He is fat..really! His belly is the biggest I saw ever!"
"Jace...shhhh....it's not nice to say that."
We continued eating, while I really hoped the man at the counter had not overheard.
A bit later...
"Mom! Look! That fat guy came back....right there! He is like this big (he then spread his arms as wide as he could)!"
"Jace, put your hands down...shhhhh."
There was no doubt the man heard this time. He was right next to our table. I spent the rest of lunch making sure I didn't even glance in that man's direction. Jace kept on eye on him, and as the man was leaving the parking lot...
"Look mom! There he goes..in his car...see?"
No I didn't see...I was still pretending the whole conversation had never happened. Truly, you never know what they will say when you least expect it!

pivot!

Tonight at mom's we were talking about getting Lindsey's couches up her stairs...the pivot scene from "Friends" kept running through my head...thought I'd share...it's one of my favorites!

like the wind

So...for those of you who follow Lindsey's running...this for you, and for me, to brag about how awesome she is! Lindsey ran her first half marathon today. She's been training for the last 3 weeks, eating well, sleeping (except for last night when Ty decided to throw up at about 10:30...just as Lindsey was getting into a deep sleep)...doing all the stuff she needed to prepare for a big race. The course was down Hobble Creek Canyon and then over to Mapleton. When I called Linds to wish her luck yesterday she said "I told everyone if the time hits 1:20 and you haven't seen me, hop in your cars and come find me cause I'm dead on the course!" Well....Lindsey stomped on everyone at the race, including 3 BYU All Americans. She came in first for the women with a time of 1:12:13!! And yes, that is a qualifying time for the olympics! Seriously! How she does it I'll never know...Way to kick a little trash today!!!

Lindsey coming in giving Tim an "I did it!" squeeze!

Yep...there she is...mother of 3...half marathon monster!
CONGRATULATIONS!!
